How to start owning your budget
Welcome to my newsletter “Behind the Numbers”.
A fortnightly newsletter where I share tips for Budget Owners on how to own your budget. I may also share an interesting sporting stat along the way.

As we approach the start of a new year, you may find yourself starting a new budget year in your organisation. Alternatively, you may be halfway through your organisation’s budget year.
The timing of the budget year may differ, but the challenges of owning a budget in your organisation remain the same.

One sporting stat
The Indian Premier League (for T20 cricket) recently held it’s player auction ahead of the 2024 season. Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc, attracted the highest bid, with Kolkata Knight Riders securing his services for $4.43m AUD.
In comparison, top overseas players in the Australian T20 Big Bash League can earn just over $400,000 AUD. The salary budget for BBL teams is capped at $3m AUD.
